| Old Union Hall Fire (last known as Bubba's Wings and Things) November 2nd, 2008 1:13am Sunday morning |
| Kendall was dispatched for a structure fire going well at the corner of Kenmor and Kendall Roads near the fire station. Also automatically Morton was dispatched for a pumper and rescue and Holley for a FAST Team. Upon arrival a two story masonry building was fully involved with partial roof collapse. Immediately Holley was upgraded to a ladder and rescue and Brockport for a second ladder, and Hamlin for a FAST Team, and Monroe Ambulance for a standby at the scene. The new Kendall 34 took the hydrant in front of the Kendall Inn and initiated a defensive attack to stop the advancement of the fire to the Kendall Inn on side 2. The preconnect Blitzfire was deployed as well as hand lines to accomplish this. The deck gun on 34 was used to attack the fire building on side 1. Kendall 33 took the hydrant behind the fire hall and hand jacked a 4" line to the scene to supply the incoming Brockport Ladder 231 which took position on the southeast corner of the structure. Morton's pumper 215 took a hydrant on Kenmor Rd. to supply the incoming Holley Ladder which took position to the north (side 4) of the structure. Morton 215 also deployed their Blitzfire monitor on the fire building. Morton 218 and Holley 65 as well as Kendall 34 supplied lighting for the scene. The ladder operations quickly knocked the fire down and Hamlin's 243 was changed from FAST operations to standby pumper covering Kendall and Morton's District. Hamlin 242 was also positioned in Morton and Walker was moved to Hamlin. Once the fire was under control, the ladders were repositioned to better extinguish any hot spots. Brockport and Morton and Hamlin were relieved around 6:00 while Kendall and Holley remained on scene until 7:30 when it was decided that the building would have to be demolished. Keeler Construction would be on scene around 11:30 and would need the assistance of Kendall and Holley at that time. Demolition began around noon and was completed by 2:00pm. The County owned building had been vacant for several years. |
